i shouldn’t have to write this list, but some people really think pennsylvania stinks. maybe because they’re just sad that the redskins are terrible and aren’t even actually a virginia team, or maybe they’re jealous that they don’t have the oldest brewery in america. i’m not very sure, but here are a couple reasons why pa is awesome.
- yuengling – the oldest brewery in america. some of the greatest cheap lager you can find. pottsville, pa.
- rolling rock – on a beer-related note, rolling rock is brewed in latrobe, pa. come on, folks. we grew up on this stuff.
- wawa – i shouldn’t have to explain this, but wawa is the greatest convenience store on the planet. not many places have hoagies, soft pretzels, and rosenbergers/wawa iced tea. straight out of wawa, pa. yes, it’s a real place. see the next 3 reasons:
- hoagies – subway? LOLz.
- pretzels – snyder’s of hanover, pa. need i say more? quoted from wikipedia, “the average Philadelphian consumes about twelve times more pretzels than the national average.”
- rosenberger’s – some of the best dairy product and iced tea, ever. a gallon jug of rosie’s tea is where it’s at. hatfield, pa.
- cheesesteaks – this one is so damn obvious, i shouldn’t have to put it on this list. just to name a few of the heavy hitters: pat’s, jim’s, geno’s, s.o.s.
- hershey’s – all i’m going to say about this is: hershey, pa.
- r5 productions – some of the best shows at the best small venues you will ever find. i’ve been to countless amazing r5 shows at the church. philadelphia, pa.
- it isn’t jersey – it could be worse.
that’s the meat of my list, although i could go on forever. if you have anything you’d like to add to my list, just go ahead and tell me why you love (or hate) pennsylvania.
update: i don’t know how i could forget tastykakes, the world series champions, and of course all the amazing people (my friends).

you mentioned cheese steaks, but forgot to include Dellasandro’s Steaks on Henry Ave.
Also, where is Hatfield quality meats? i know the smell is horrible in the summer, but i’ve seen their bacon all over the county… that has to mean something. haha.
oh… and what about larenzo’s pizza on south street. it’s the only place to go after a long night of drinking for the largest slice in philly with a soda for $3.50.
and me… of course!
hey, i can’t always remember them all… but thanks for the additions, nichole! definitely lorenzo’s. i’ve actually never had dellasandro’s steaks before. hatfield hot dogs are AWESOME. i also forgot to mention nick’s roast beef and tony luke’s.

The beautiful landscape. Rolling hills and winding back roads. The historic architecture and culture. Philadelphia accents. The stunning fall season. Thunderstorms in the summer, blizzards in the winter. Legit Italian food made by legit Italians. The Amish, the PA Germans, King of Prussia mall… PA has many great things to offer.
