Police are still investigating the case of an 82-year-old woman who apparently thought she had hit a deer Monday night in Northeast Philadelphia but actually ran over two children.
No charges have been filed against Jeanne Sklar, who struck Kiara Vasquez, 7, and her brother Christopher, 10, at Algon and Magee avenues at 6:09 p.m. and dragged them for several blocks, police said.
this is simply unbelievable. i can’t express the anger towards bad drivers that this invokes. i would understand if it were some dumb drunk jerk driving at 3am thinking he hit a deer. that, at least, makes a bit of sense. this, however, was just some stupid old lady who couldn’t distinguish unicorns from goldfish. she decided to operate a motor vehicle while under the influence of mental incapacity, and two little kids had to pay the price. is there not some kind of learner’s permit that old people must get to prove that they should be allowed to drive?
on the other hand, maybe the kids were running around in the street wearing deer costumes and totally deserved it. i wasn’t there, so what do i know?

ha….there are many times that I think I see random deer crossing the road and I realize that oops, that wasn’t a deer crossing – that was a police officer waiting to catch people who might think they see a deer.

It was probably due to the ‘deer in the headlights’ stare they gave her when they saw her coming.
Either way, all I want to know is- Did she keep the meat?

because she fucking drove off with 2 kids under her car without realizing it. do you really mean to tell me you wish to shift the blame to the kids’ parents who let them walk at 6:09pm?
